FRESNO, Calif.—Federal authorities say they have busted a drug ring that was growing pot in California for supposedly medical use and selling it across state lines for inflated prices.Federal prosecutors in California unsealed an indictment Monday that accuses six people of moving marijuana grown in farm fields in Fresno County to the Boston area for sale.

The indictment says the growers had posted medical marijuana recommendations from doctors in order to claim the crops were legal under California law.

Instead, prosecutors say the weed was being sold in Massachusetts for three times what it could command in California.

Agents in the multistate bust seized 11 firearms, more than 4,600 pot plants, more than 3,500 pounds of processed marijuana, about $115,000 in cash and $9,000 in jewelry.
