SAN DIEGO—Federal anti-drug agents have raided at least four San Diego medical marijuana clinics and arrested 12 people accused of selling pot illegally. A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office in San Diego, Debra Hartman, says Drug Enforcement Administration agents served the search warrants Friday morning.

She says the suspects will be arraigned Monday on charges of conspiracy to distribute and manufacture marijuana and conspiracy to launder drug proceeds. She declined to comment further.

Kris Hermes of Americans for Safe Access says the raids undermine local efforts to regulate the clinics.

San Diego County is working on a new ordinance to crack down on the dispensaries. Federal agents have raided numerous clinics over the years.

Why not just leave medical marijuana alone? In Mexico there is a massive drug war were people are killed every day. A large portion of that war is funded by marijuana use. So what is more harmful….legal pot or illegal pot? If prohibition ended law enforcement could focus on crimes that are truly harmful to society, rather than going after every kid on the street with a glass pipe or hand rolled cigarette.
